Spire Energy
Standardizing Years of Data Collection + Organization
Challenge
Spire Energy was building a new pipeline to serve 650,000 people in Eastern Missouri and they needed a custom solution to capture video footage of the project for 2+ years, share it out to multiple stakeholders, track project progress, visualize issues and compare the different project stages.
Solution
hM created Standard Data Collection & Organization (SDCO). SDCO is a framework to organize, communicate, and understand the progress of a project while providing an easy-to-use video and static image archive. SDCO is setup for gathering, managing and analyzing footage in a shareable environment.
Rooted in the science of geography, we utilize a custom Cameraball to capture the arial footage. GPS and 4K time-encoded video are paired together to create a map visualization of the layers of footage and information. Users can jump to an area of the map to view corresponding footage or pull up footage side-by-side for comparison purposes.
Results
The website and video archive made tracking 2-year progress simple. It was easy to identify areas of the pipeline that were ahead or behind schedule month over month.
The comparison footage allowed Spire to determine project issues and necessary corrections during flooding and other seasonal occurrences.
Became a sharable, universal resources for all internal groups at Spire from engineers and project managers to stakeholders and the legal team.
